OU baseball rolls past Texas in Red River Rivalry series opener behind Braden Davis' gem
Don't look know, but the OU baseball team is on another late-season heater under coach Skip Johnson.
The 18th-ranked Sooners extended their longest winning streak in seven years to nine games Friday night, handing Texas a 9-4 loss in the Red River series opener at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman.
Jaxon Willits and Anthony Mackenzie each homered for OU and were two of the four Sooners with two hits each.
Braden Davis scattered one run and seven hits with nine strikeouts over six strong innings to earn the win for OU.
The Sooners improved to 26-14 overall, 15-4 in Big 12 play.
Jared Thomas and Jalin Flores each went 3-for-5 atop the lineup for the Longhorns (25-18, 11-8).
Game 2 is set for 4 p.m. Saturday.
