Ottawa Senators GM Steve Staios Provides an Update on Health of Tkachuk, Stutzle, and Chabot

If the Ottawa Senators are to finally snap their seven-year playoff drought, they'll need all hands on deck this season. The last thing they need is to lose three of their top players to injury before the season even starts.

But that possibility was staring them squarely in the face on Tuesday after Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stutzle, and Thomas Chabot all left the club's 4-3 victory in Montreal and did not return. So, naturally, when Sens head coach Travis Green met with the media on Wednesday, reporters were keen to know what's happening.

"I'll give more of an update tomorrow on our guys," Staios said. "We didn't skate today so I'm not giving (an update) today... I'm waiting to talk to our medical team."

But when GM Steve Staios appeared Wednesday on the Locked on Senators podcast, he actually had a pretty decent update about the three players.

"They're all okay," Staios said.

Given his value to the team, Tkachuk's status was of particular concern in these parts. He's now left the past two games after taking contact to his right shoulder. He finished the game on Sunday in Sudbury but didn't return on Tuesday in Montreal. So it's huge that the captain, according to Staios, is none the worse for wear.

Chabot and Stutzle both ended last season on the injury list and hope to start a new season at 100 percent. Everyone's goal is to help prevent another of the club's dreadful Octobers.

The Senators are back at it on Friday night in Detroit before finishing the pre-season at home with a rematch against Montreal.
