OSU cornerback Jordan Hancock is going to get in trouble with his mom for this interview
Jordan Hancock is a member of the Ohio State secondary now in his third season.
In both prior seasons, he was an OSU scholar-athlete.
On the field, he's made an impact for OSU in 2023 with 33 tackles, four pass breakups, and a team-leading two forced fumbles.

Tell me about a time when you had to be brave away from the football field.
Dang. A time I was brave was when I took off the training wheels for a bicycle, and I just rode it.
You're an athlete, did riding a bike not come naturally to you?
Nah. It was really hard. ... Taking the training wheels off, it was just a huge accomplishment for me, and I was just so scared to do it. I remember that.
What is your most controversial opinion about food?
I think chicken tenders and fries are the best meal.
That's not controversial. Come on, man.
Well, I don't think cheese should go breakfast sandwiches.
Much better. That's a good strong stance to take.
I hate cheese on my breakfast sandwiches.
What's something you're good at that might surprise people?
I'm really good at video games, like extremely good at video games.
Do you have a favorite game?
NBA 2K.
Which team do you play with?
I play as the Oklahoma City Thunder.
You can design your own individual player, right? You don't have to go with actual NBA players?
Yeah. My individual player is, I feel like, he's the best player of all time.
Oh, he is? Better than Jordan, better than LeBron?
Yeah. He's 99 (rating out of 100) overall. So he's the best.
In other words, you're playing on easy mode.
Yup. Basically.
Do you trash talk when you play video games?
Yes. A lot. A little bit too much. More than I do actually playing football.
What's your favorite class?
I like math.
Woah. That might be more controversial than no cheese on a breakfast sandwich. Why do you like math?
I like math because as soon as you get it, it's the biggest relief ever, and it just flows so well once you understand it.
So you like that it's hard?
Yeah.
What kind of math are we talking about? Algebra, geometry, calculus?
Algebra, straightforward with the numbers and the letters. Foiling and stuff like that.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I like watching cartoons, like anime.
So like "Dragon Ball Z?"
Yeah, "Dragon Ball Z" is my favorite, my favorite of all time.
Favorite musician?
Drake. He's just so versatile.
What's your favorite thing about your parents?
That they're very resilient. If I get in trouble, they always stick with me. They always give me room for improvement and encourage me.
What's the most trouble you've been in with them?
Probably being late for class. They took away my video games.

No 2K. I was sad. I was sad.
What do your parents do?
They're in sales.
They're both in sales?
Yes, ma'am.
That's a competitive business. Are they competitive people?
Oh, yeah. They're extremely competitive. Extremely. Like, they compete with each other as spouses. It's crazy. 'I'm a better salesperson than you.' That's what they always be talking about. They just compete and feed off each other's energy, and that's why they fit so well together.
So who is the better salesperson?
My dad says he's the best, so I'll go by dad.

Yes, I actually Google myself.
What's something you've read about yourself that was especially surprising?
I couldn't tackle. I was like, 'What?' But that's not true. That's not true.
What's the happiest you've ever been?
Whew. Dang. That's a really good question. The happiest I've ever been was winning the seventh grade GBL championship, Gwinnett Basketball League championship. That was my favorite. And winning MVP. It was all my friends, and we beat the best team. We used to never beat them, but we beat them that one year.
Where's your favorite vacation spot?
Oh. That's a hard one. Can I give multiple? My favorite vacation was going on spring break with my friends at Seaside, Florida. Me and my family, we always go to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Probably those two.
So you're a beach, warm-weather guy.
Yes. I love the beach. But I want to visit New York sometime.
What do you want to do in New York?
I want to try their bagels and go to their beaches, or New Jersey's beaches.
So what kind of place do you want to eventually retire to? Are we talking about a beachside villa or a...
I want to live by my parents, and I want to live by my siblings. So wherever they want to be. They'd probably say in Atlanta. But I want to try out New York. If New York is nice, New York, New Jersey, I would want to live there.
What's the best-looking outfit in your closet?
I really like a bubble coat.
You like warm weather, but you like bubble coats?
Yeah, so I love warm weather, but my best outfits come in the wintertime.
See, now that's a problem.
I guess so, but I really feel like I can really use all my wardrobe in the wintertime because you can wear jeans, shoes, bubble coat. There's just so many combinations you can wear.
