The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association appeals panel approved former Millwood athlete Jaden Nickens' hardship waiver to participate in athletics at Douglass on Wednesday.

Nickens, a four-star OU football commit, moved to Douglass in December and his hardship waiver was recently denied. Nickens' family attorney filed an appeal, which led to Wednesday's appearance in front of the panel.

After nearly an hour of deliberation that included executive session and two public votes, the appeals panel ultimately voted 4-1 to approve Nickens' eligiblity.

According to the OSSAA's eligibility requirements, students who file a hardship waiver are not allowed to participate in athletics for at least 15 calendar days after the student's first full date of attendance at the school.

Nickens already met this requirement and is immediately eligible, and he is expected to make his basketball debut Friday when Douglass hosts Victory Christian.

The 6-foot-3, 190 pound two-sport athlete is a four-star football prospect according to 247Sports. He also has multiple Power Five offers in basketball from the likes of Auburn, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State.
