Omarion Hampton lands on Walter Camp 2024 Player of the Year Preseason Watch List
North Carolina Tar Heels' running back Omarion Hampton had a breakout season in 2023, earning some honors as a member of the All-ACC team.
Now, going into 2024 he's earning more recognition but this time it's in the preseason and on the national level. Hampton was one of 50 players to be named to the Walter Camp 2024 Player of the Year Preseason Watch List on Monday afternoon.
The annual watch list features 41 offensive players and 9 defensive players, and was released by The Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Hampton was also one of seven Atlantic Coast Conference players to earn a spot joining D.J. Uiagalelei (Florida State), Cam Ward (Miami), Grayson McCall (NC State) Kyle McCord (Syracuse), Jamal Haynes (Georgia Tech) and Elic Ayomanor (Stanford).

The recognition is nothing new to Hampton who was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List earlier this Summer. Hampton is coming off a big 2023 season in which he rushed for 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.
The list of 50 will be narrowed down to 10 semifinalists in November, then another three finalists later in the month of November. The award will be announced on December 12 as part of ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
