More than 10,000 athletes from over 200 countries were going for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. And with the medal events all wrapped up, more than 60 countries will be taking home at least one gold medal.

The United States and China dominated the gold medal tally, capturing 40 apiece. Team USA won 39 golds at the previous Olympics in Tokyo, while China had 38. The U.S. has now topped the medal counts at six of the last seven Summer Games: Paris 2024 (40), Tokyo 2020 (39), Rio 2016 (46), London 2012 (48), Athens 2004 (36) and Sydney 2000 (37).

Japan was the only other country to collect at least 20 golds in Paris, while Australia won 18 and home nation France earned 16.
