Ole Miss guard Allen Flanigan ejected for Flagrant 2 elbow to head vs. South Carolina

Ole Miss guard Allen Flanigan was ejected from Saturday's bout against South Carolina after he was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul for elbowing the Gamecocks' Zachary Davis in the head during the second half.

On a play away from the ball, Flanigan was cutting through when he essentially threw a jab at Davis' head, sending Davis to the floor.

The play was reviewed, and Flanigan was subsequently ejected.

Flanigan, a graduate athlete, played at Auburn from 2019-2023. This is his first season in Oxford, where he has averaged 15.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and three assists per game. Those are all career highs.

At the time of Flanigan's ejection, South Carolina led by 13 points with nearly 17 minutes in the game. He left the game having scored 11 points and hauling in three rebounds.

The question now remaining is if Flanigan hears from SEC officials in the follow-up. The conference suspended Alabama's Mohamed Wague for a game earlier this week after he elbowed Florida's Alex Condon in the head. That act went uncalled.

The NCAA requires a one-game suspension if a player commits an act of fighting, which is constituted by "a confrontation involving one or more players, coaches or other team personnel wherein (but not limited to) a fist, hand, arm, foot, knee or leg is used to combatively strike the other individual." Flanigan's ejection can be anticipated to rise that level, at least.

Ole Miss (19-7, 6-7 SEC) will play its next game Wednesday, Feb. 28 against Alabama.
