Ole Miss football, Lane Kiffin ranked No. 6 in preseason coaches poll
OXFORD ― Ole Miss football will start the 2024 season with the program's highest preseason ranking since at least 1992.
The Rebels came in at No. 6 in the first US LBM coaches poll of the season. It marks their second top-10 preseason ranking in the last 32 years, and their fourth consecutive season starting the campaign ranked in the Top 25 by the coaches.
Ole Miss began last season ranked 22nd, rising to finish the season at No. 9 following an 11-win campaign that concluded with a Peach Bowl victory over Penn State.
Returning starting quarterback Jaxson Dart and other offensive stars like Tre Harris and Caden Prieskorn, coach Lane Kiffin built upon that foundation with college football's top-ranked transfer portal class. Much of that group is comprised of defensive difference makers, with the Rebels landing an All-SEC talent in Princely Umanmielen and former five-star in Walter Nolen to bolster their ranks in the trenches.
Three teams on Ole Miss' regular-season schedule also begin the season ranked. The Rebels will host No. 1 Georgia and No. 16 Oklahoma, but must travel to play No. 12 LSU.
Here's a look at the full poll.
