How Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin reacted to Alabama's stunning loss to Vanderbilt

OXFORD − Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin was distracted during his postgame news conference after the Rebels beat South Carolina 27-3 on Saturday.

A small TV was mounted in the back corner of the small media room at Williams-Brice Stadium. As Kiffin faced reporters, he also faced the TV that showed the final two minutes of Alabama's stunning 40-35 loss at Vanderbilt.

“How many timeouts does Alabama have?” Kiffin asked to no one in particular. “Sorry, I mean this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing going on. Better watch, you’re probably not ever going to see this again.”

Kiffin was right. Vanderbilt was 0-60 in its previous games against opponents ranked in the AP top five.

Kiffin was the offensive coordinator at Alabama from 2014 to 2016 before he got the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic.

With the win in Columbia, Ole Miss improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC.
