Oklahoma State softball falls short vs Texas as Longhorns even up series against Cowgirls
Kayden Henry's infield RBI single in the top of the sixth inning lifted second-ranked Texas to a 2-1 win against eighth-ranked Oklahoma State and even a key Big 12 softball series on Friday night at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater.
Citlaly Gutierrez (6-0) dominated in the circle for the Longhorns, allowing just five hits with six strikeouts in seven innings to earn the win.
The Cowgirls (28-6, 8-3 Big 12) posted their lone run in the first inning when Claire Timm's sacrifice fly scored Tallen Edwards.
Mia Scott tied things up for the Longhorns (29-4, 9-2) with an RBI groundout in the third that scored Bella Dayton.
Ivy Rosenberry (8-3) took the loss for OSU, allowing one run on a walk and eight hits in five innings of relief. Kyra Aycock started for the Cowgirls but lasted two innings, allowing one run on four walks.
