Oklahoma State softball rallies past Stetson with HRs from Micaela Wark, Jilyen Poullard

Having fallen behind by four runs after two innings against a Stetson team with just two wins so far this season, the seventh-ranked Oklahoma State softball team needed a bit of time to get its bats going.

Trailing by three in the top of the sixth inning, however, OSU got a pair of home runs from Micaela Wark and Jilyen Poullard to spark an 11-6 win Wednesday night in DeLand, Florida.

OSU entered the inning trailing 6-3, but got a sacrifice fly from Caroline Wang prior to Wark’s game-tying two-run homer. Moments later, Poullard — in a 10-pitch at-bat — launched her first home run as a Cowgirl, a three-run shot to right field for a 9-6 lead.

Adding extra insurance, Caroline Wang hit her third homer of the season in the top of the seventh. The Cowgirls had five home runs in all, with Rosie Davis and Tallen Edwards each going deep as well.

In the circle, senior Ivy Rosenberry continued her strong start to the season, entering in relief with the Cowgirls down 6-3 in the bottom of the third. She pitched five scoreless innings, allowing three hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. For the season, she has allowed one run over 18 innings.

The Cowgirls remain in Florida for the weekend, heading to Tampa for a five-game event headlined by a showdown with No. 4 Washington at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
