Oklahoma dismisses 4-star QB signee Chris Robison
Chris Robison, one of the best quarterbacks in the 2017 recruiting class, is no longer an Oklahoma Sooner.
Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley announced Wednesday evening that Robison had been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules. A native of Mesquite, Texas, Robison was an early-enrollee with the Sooners, arriving on campus in January. He was arrested for public intoxication on April 9, the night after completing 3-of-5 passes for 49 yards in OU’s spring game.
Robison was the No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the country according to Rivals and a four-star recruit. He was considered the 12th-best prospect in the state of Texas and the No. 94 prospect in the country when he enrolled at Oklahoma.

Robison wasn’t counted on to play right away at Oklahoma. After all, there’s a guy named Baker Mayfield there and he’s pretty good. But Mayfield is a senior and Robison could have been a competitor with Austin Kendall and Kyler Murray for the starting job in 2018 after Mayfield’s departure.
Kendall and Murray are now the only other scholarship quarterbacks on the roster outside of Mayfield. Kendall served as Mayfield’s backup a year ago — and ruffled some Ohio State fan feathers — while Murray is a transfer from Texas A&M.
