OKC Thunder waives Aleksej Pokusevski, 2020 first-round NBA Draft pick

The OKC Thunder announced Friday that it has waived Aleksej Pokusevski.

OKC selected Pokusevski, 22, with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The 7-foot forward appeared in 150 games, including 65 starts, throughout four seasons with the Thunder.

Pokusevski showed promise as a rookie. He averaged 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes, and he started in 28 of his 45 appearances.

But injuries proved to be a reoccurring issue for Pokusevski, who missed four to six weeks in the summer due to a small fracture in his right arm. He then suffered an ankle sprain that caused him to miss all of training camp and the preseason.

Pokusevski only played in 10 games this season. He averaged 1.2 points and one rebound in six minutes.
