OKC Thunder to decline options on Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins for new contracts, per report

The Oklahoma City Thunder will decline team options on Isaiah Joe ($2.1 million) and Aaron Wiggins ($2 million), The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Saturday.

According to the report, OKC plans to work on long-term deals with Joe and Wiggins in July. It would be a well-deserved pay day for the two Thunder reserve players, who shined in their roles this past season.

Joe averaged 8.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18.5 minutes, and he shot a career-high 41.6% from deep. Wiggins averaged 6.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15.7 minutes, and he shot a career-high 49.2% from deep.

OKC is projected to have about $30 million in cap space this offseason, and it has already brought in plenty of new pieces. It traded Josh Giddey to Chicago in exchange for Alex Caruso on June 21, and it selected three players in the 2024 NBA Draft.

OKC drafted Serbia's Nikola Topic (No. 12 overall), Weber State's Dillon Jones (No. 26) and UC Santa Barbara's Ajay Mitchell (No. 38). It also signed undrafted guard Saint Mary's Alex Ducas to a two-way contract.
