Ohio State football WR Emeka Egbuka exits with lower-body injury against Maryland
Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka was helped off the field with a lower-body injury in the fourth quarter of the Buckeyes' 37-17 win over Maryland on Saturday.
Trainers took him into a medical tent on the sideline at Ohio Stadium for evaluation after he went down before a play on the Buckeyes’ first possession of the fourth quarter. Egbuka did not return.
FOX’s telecast reported that Egbuka had suffered a lower-leg contusion and was questionable to return. He was later moving without assistance along the sideline.
Day did not divulge the nature of Egbuka’s injury in his post-game news conference, but said, “It doesn’t seem like something major.”
Through three-plus quarters, he had caught three passes for 40 yards.
It was the second straight game in which one of the Buckeyes’ top receivers was injured as Marvin Harrison Jr. previously sprained his right ankle in a win at Notre Dame on Sept. 23.
Harrison later returned against the Irish and continued to play through the ankle sprain against the Terrapins this weekend.
