Two of Ohio State’s practices in preseason training camp beginning next month will be open to the general public.

It was announced Wednesday that fans will be allowed to view the first two practices of camp on Aug. 3 and 4 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. They are scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. with gates opening at 8:30 a.m.

It’s uncommon for the program to open practices to those beyond families of players or former players, but the move is part of an initiative to raise money to fund name, image and likeness opportunities for the Buckeyes.

The revenue generated from admission will be directed to Ohio State's various NIL partners. Tickets cost $30, and up to 500 of them will be made available for each of the practices. A commemorative hat is included with tickets. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Update: Tickets for the practices sold out before noon.

Coach Ryan Day is also holding a luncheon on Aug. 4 at the Fawcett Center to raise money for NIL efforts. Tables can be reserved up until July 28 and run $2,500 for eight seats. It's being billed as part of the school's "Kickoff Week."

The NCAA in October updated its rules guidance allowing schools to fundraise on behalf of NIL entities, including the popular booster-funded groups known as collectives. Ohio State has three such in operation.

The Buckeyes open the coming season at Indiana on Sept. 2.
