Ohio State football lists defensive tackle Tyleik Williams as available at Michigan State

Ohio State starting defensive tackle Tyleik Williams remains on track to return at Michigan State on Saturday night.

Williams was not listed as either questionable or unavailable on the injury report the Buckeyes submitted to the Big Ten.

A day ahead of kickoff, coach Ryan Day told reporters that Williams would be available to return after missing last week’s win over Marshall with an undisclosed injury.

It isn’t clear, though, what type of role Williams will see. Day did not answer directly if Williams would play against the Spartans, mentioning only that he was to be available.

In Ohio State’s win over Western Michigan earlier this month, starting left guard Donovan Jackson had been available and warmed up in uniform, but ultimately did not see any snaps as the staff limited him to an “emergency role.”

Williams, a veteran interior lineman who had nine tackles and 1.5 sacks in the first nonconference games, has been practicing this week.

The Buckeyes begin the Big Ten portion of their schedule with a largely clean bill of health. The only unavailable players for their conference opener are four walk-ons, including running backs TC Caffey and Rashid SeSay, wide receiver Reis Stocksdale and linebacker Zach Hayes. Caffey suffered a season-ending knee injury in July.
