Ohio State football defensive tackle Ty Hamilton announces return for fifth season

Ty Hamilton, a redshirt junior defensive tackle, announced Monday he is returning to Ohio State next season.

In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Hamilton cited “unfinished business that needs to be taken care of for the brotherhood.”

His return leaves the Buckeyes with one of their top interior defensive linemen from this past fall. He split time with Mike Hall Jr. as the starting tackle alongside Tyleik Williams and was a productive run stopper.

Hamilton's 4.5 tackles for loss this past season ranked fourth among the Buckeyes, while he also finished with two sacks. Two of those tackles behind the line of scrimmage occurred during a 14-3 loss to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl.

Both Hamilton and Williams will be back in 2024, as is defensive end Jack Sawyer, leaving Ohio State with a stable of returners on its defensive line, while Hall is entering the NFL draft.

A native of Pickerington and the younger brother of former Buckeyes defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton, he has made 11 career starts at Ohio State.
