Ohio State Buckeyes rout Campbell, stay alive in NCAA softball tournament

Sophomore Allison Smith pitched a one-hitter and three Buckeyes homered as Ohio State defeated Campbell 10-0 Saturday in an NCAA softball regional in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Buckeyes (36-16), face Oregon State in an elimination game later Saturday, with the winner advancing to the regional championship against Tennessee at 2 p.m. Sunday, with another game after that if needed.

Smith struck out five and walked two.

Ohio State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Sam Hackenbracht and a two-run home run by Niki Carver.

Taylor Pack homered in the fourth inning for a 4-0 lead. The Buckeyes added three more runs in the fifth on Kaitlyn Coffman's fielder's choice and a two-run single by Taylor Heckman. Hackenbracht hit a three-run homer in the sixth to cap the scoring.
