Offensive tackle Gerald Mincey returning to Tennessee football in 2024

Tennessee starting offensive tackle Gerald Mincey announced on Monday that he will return for the 2024 season.

Mincey thanked the Volunteer Club, the NIL collective for UT athletes, in announcing his return.

“Shout out to @thevolclub for all the opportunities this year! Looking forward to another great year and glad to be signed for the 2024 season,” Mincey said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Mincey, a 6-foot-6, 337-pounder, transferred from Florida in 2022. He has played 21 games, with 13 starts, in the past two seasons.

In 2022, he started at left tackle. In 2023, he moved to right tackle to make room for Miami transfer John Campbell on the left side.

Last week, Campbell announced he also would return in 2024.

It gives the Vols a valuable one-two punch at tackle to protect five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava, who will take over the starting job next season.
