NY Rangers TV voice Sam Rosen to retire at end of upcoming NHL season

"It's a power-play goal!"

"... And this one will last a lifetime!"

If you have listened to the New York Rangers at any point on TV over the last 39 years, the only play-by-play voice you've ever known is Sam Rosen.

According to MSG Networks on X and reported by the New York Post, Rosen's 40th season with the organization will be his last as he is set to retire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

The New City resident has been with MSG Networks since 1977. In 1982, he became the studio host and part-time play-by-play broadcaster.

In 1984, he moved to TV to be the lead voice. In 1986, Rosen was paired with John Davidson, and they worked together for 20 years. Rosen has spent the past 18 years in the booth with Joe Micheletti and will be starting Year 19 in October.

Rangers fans are hoping for one more legendary Sam Rosen line, such as this classic from 1994: “The waiting is over! The New York Rangers are the Stanley Cup champions! And this one will last a lifetime!”
