North Carolina sitting in good spot for updated Bracketology after VT win

The North Carolina Tar Heels were able to avoid a losing streak on Saturday by getting a big home win over Virginia Tech. And the win came at a much-needed time.

With the Tar Heels entering the game 2-3 in their last five, they needed a win to hold their lead in the Atlantic Coast Conference as well as their place in the NCAA Tournament. Before the game, UNC was listed as the top No. 2 seed by the selection committee in the first reveal.

And ESPN’s Joe Lunardi is echoing similar thoughts as well.

Lunardi has the Tar Heels as a No. 2 seed in his latest mock bracket update he released on Sunday afternoon with Purdue falling to Ohio State. On the No. 2 line, he has both UNC and Tennessee listed as a No. 6 overall team which means one of them should be the No. 5 overall team.

Now, Lunardi’s brackets aren’t official and there are some mistakes usually like the one we saw above. It does give a feel as to where UNC stands with someone who monitors this every single day.

The best thing for UNC to do is to take it one game at a time and win out to keep their No. 1 seed chances alive. There’s work to do.
