No. 1 pick Baker Mayfield signs with Browns for reported $32.7M guaranteed
The Cleveland Browns announced on Tuesday that they have signed No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the deal is worth $32.68 million in guaranteed money for the quarterback including a $21.85 million signing bonus.
Mayfield shared the news on Instagram with an image of the contract being signed.
“Thankful for all the blessings and everybody that helped make this possible!!!” Mayfield wrote. “Time to go to work!!”
Whether Mayfield will start as a rookie remains a mystery after the team traded a third-round pick for former Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor prior to drafting Mayfield.
The deal leaves the Browns with one outstanding rookie deal, having yet to sign cornerback and No. 4 overall pick Denzel Ward.
Players are scheduled to report to Browns training camp starting Wednesday.
