Nick Pringle available for Alabama basketball vs Charleston, but one player isn't
SPOKANE, Wash. — Nick Pringle will be available to play for Alabama basketball vs Charleston in March Madness, coach Nate Oats said Thursday.
Pringle was dealing with a "personal issue" Oats said. No. 4 seed Alabama will face No. 13 seed Charleston in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday (6:35 p.m. CT, truTV).
"He's here with us now and should be good to go tomorrow," Oats said.
Pringle, talking in the locker room, said the past couple days have been him taking care of some "personal stuff."
"Just finding a good mindset to come out here and play for my team and do whatever it takes to win," Pringle said.
The senior forward was spotted flying commercial to Spokane on Thursday by the Next Round Live. Alabama flew to Spokane on a private jet Tuesday.
Pringle has been suspended twice this season, once in December and once in the first half of SEC play. When he has played, he's been a vital part of the offense, serving in the connector role that connects one end of the floor to the other.
On Thursday, Pringle was asked what this season has been like for him.
"It's been pretty up and down," Pringle said. "That happens. Players go through things all the time. Some vocalize it. Some don't. But I wouldn't take it out of proportion or anything. I've been going through things since my freshman year of college. Things like this, I'm kind of already adjusted, already used to. Have a good mindset about it. Try to fix things when they're not going well. Most of all, my teammates are definitely the most important to anything I've got going on. Just being here makes my day. I'm just willing to do anything it takes to win, to help this team go on a run, to help guys reach their goals, their potentials. That's what I feel like my job is."
Davin Cosby injury update for Alabama basketball vs Charleston
Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide will be without reserve guard Davin Cosby Jr., who sustained an injury in practice — breaking his foot. Oats said Cosby will be out for the game against Charleston.
"We're not 100% fully healthy," Oats said. "That's the one injury. It's unfortunate. I think he stepped on somebody's foot. He continued to practice. But when he got an X-ray after practice, it was a break in one of the bones. He's out."
Cosby is averaging 3.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists for the Crimson Tide this season in his first season playing for Alabama.
