NFL Twitter reacts to Falcons trading Taylor Heinicke to Chargers
After taking the majority of snaps at quarterback for the Falcons in the preseason, veteran Taylor Heinicke was traded to the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday for a conditional sixth-round draft pick. While Heinicke made the initial 53-man roster, this move was somewhat expected since he was sitting third on the depth chart behind Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr.
Heinicke accounted for 880 passing yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions during his lone season in Atlanta. By trading Heinicke, the Falcons will create about $1.2 million in cap space and add over $3 million to their dead money total, per Over the Cap's projections.
