NFL power rankings round-up 2024: How do Giants fare entering Week 8?
The New York Giants hit a new rock bottom on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. In front of their hometown fans, Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles came in, set fire to everything, and went home laughing.
Against his former team, Barkley gained the most yards he ever has at MetLife but did so while wearing rival colors. He outgained the Giants' entire offense, which managed just a measly three points.
The game was marred by terrible coaching, drops, missed tackles, and players literally quitting on the field and admitting it after the fact.
As we enter Week 8, here's a look at where the Giants place in a multitude of power rankings.

A third-round pick earlier this year, Andru Phillips has been one of the most productive defensive backs in the league. He's tied for second on the Giants with six tackles for a loss as the nickel cornerback and has given up only 50 receiving yards as the nearest defender on 12 targets, according to Next Gen Stats. General manager Joe Schoen lauded Phillips' physicality and aggressiveness coming out of Kentucky. It seems to be translating to the NFL. Phillips, 22, has a chance to be one of the league's best nickel corners.

If the Giants had not already decided to move on from Daniel Jones before this season, they must have it confirmed by now. New York’s offense ranks 29th in the league and has broken 21 points just twice. They tricked us a little with that performance in Seattle (scoring 29) because, in the three games around that, they’ve scored just 25 points total.
The defense is fine, ranking 14th overall, but that’s not enough to carry an offense this bad on a sustained run. New York’s overall schedule does get easier as the year goes on, but the Steelers and the Commanders are on the docket next.
The Giants could easily be 3-7 at their bye and all but officially out of it with seven games to play.

The sting of Saquon Barkley's monster game against New York resonates days later because it spoke volumes about several elements of this Giants franchise. Barkley exposed a defense that couldn't tackle him, and the Giants' run game did nada. That double whammy could not have gone over well with team brass, including owner John Mara, who badly wanted Barkley back this offseason. Even without a turnover Sunday, the Giants endured their most trying offensive performance of the year, punting 11 times and traveling more than 21 yards on one possession all game, with Daniel Jones being pulled early in the fourth quarter of the loss to Philly. It feels like the strides Jones made following the tough Week 1 outing have been undone by two poor showings. The Giants now have one TD and three field goals in their past 29 possessions, dating back to the third quarter against Seattle in Week 5. They're sitting at 2-5 and have the Steelers and Commanders, who are a combined 10-4 this season, up next.
