NFL, NFLPA bargaining session ends early, but statement calls it 'productive'
Though the current collective bargaining agreement doesn’t expire until after the 2020 season, a desire has been expressed to get a new deal done sooner.
To that end, the NFL and NFL Players Association reportedly scheduled a three-day bargaining session which began on Wednesday.
It ended Wednesday too.
‘Today’s meeting was productive’
For reasons still unclear, the meeting lasted just one day.
There was a brief statement sent by both the league and the union about the session:
“Today’s meeting was productive, constructive and beneficial for both sides, and the meetings between the NFLPA’s Executive Committee and the NFL’s Management Council Executive Committee will continue.”
The two sides will meet again on July 29. The plan is for that meeting to be multiple days, but that was the plan for this round of sessions.
