The Cincinnati Bengals will likely add to the roster in some form while working their way toward the final cuts deadline on Tuesday.

This complicated process around final cuts and 53-man rosters leaguewide is why things have been rebranded as the "initial 53-man roster" in recent years. The Bengals, like any team, can use free agency and the waiver wire to add to the active roster or practice squad during this process.

Over the weekend, several other players joined the Bengals in issuing some early cuts before trimming to 53 in a few days.

After the initial salvo of releases leaguewide, here are a few players who might interest the Bengals.

TE C.J. Uzomah, Jets

Uzomah was the perfect fit for the rebuilding Bengals a few years ago. Now, the Bengals need younger upside and might end up rostering as many as five tight ends thanks to breakouts like rookies Erick All and Tanner McLachlan.

Even so, perhaps bringing Uzomah back as a member of the practice squad could at least get his leadership back in the locker room.

DE Khalid Kareem, Bears

A former draft pick of the Bengals, Kareem had issues staying healthy. But after losing Jeff Gunter to retirement and Cam Sample to an injury, to name a few of the issues, the team could use some depth on the edge. Rookie Cedric Johnson should make the 53, but perhaps the practice squad?

DE Derek Rivers, Colts

Now 30, Rivers is a former third-round pick from 2017 who still lands on practice squads and sometimes bumps to active rosters.

Again, the simple need for depth should have the Bengals paying attention to pretty much any edge let go right now, though they also figure to put guys they already cut on the practice squad, too.

DE Raymond Johnson, Jaguars

Johnson spent 2022 and the summer of '23 with the Bengals before joining a trio of other teams. Bringing back a practice squad player who already has familiarity with the program would ease some of the onboarding process if the injury bug keeps hitting the position.

OL Keaton Sutherland, Jaguars

Sutherland has already had multiple stints with the Bengals over the years. Again, familiarity is a good thing when seeking depth at the back end of the roster. If the Bengals miss on bringing back some of their in-house targets at cuts, Sutherland would be a nice fall-back plan.

RB Boston Scott, Rams

Scott is already surprisingly out of a job after spending 2018-2023 in Philadelphia. He's got a seven-touchdown season on his resume and is a capable pass-catcher, so he'd make for some interesting depth near Trayveon Williams on the depth chart.
