Warriors Curry, Bogut to have ankle surgery
The Golden State Warriors announced on Saturday that guard Stephen Curry and center Andrew Bogut will have arthroscopic ankle surgery next week.
Curry will have an operation on his sprained right ankle Wednesday while Bogut's broken left ankle will be operated on Friday.
Bogut will not be able to participate in this summer's London Olympics.
"Now is the time to do it," Warriors general manager Larry Riley told the Bay Area News Group. "You don't want to get into July and August and say we should've scoped this thing."
Curry will end up missing 29 of 66 games this season while Bogut will miss all but 12. Curry sprained his ankle on March 10.
Bogut has been out since sustaining the injury in a game on Jan. 25 when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. He was traded to the Warriors for guard Monta Ellis on March 13.
As late as Wednesday, Curry was not anticipating surgery but an MRI showed that it was the best option, Riley said.
It is not known how long Curry will need to recover until after the operation is performed.
Riley expects that Curry and Bogut will be ready for training camp in October.
Curry averaged 21.9 points and 6.0 rebounds in 37 games. Bogut had 11.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 12 games with Milwaukee.
