Steve Spurrier makes great quip about Nick Saban's coach of the year award
Steve Spurrier’s still at it.
The former South Carolina and Florida coach may not be coaching any longer, but his quip game is still strong. When appearing on ESPN 98.1 in Gainesville on Wednesday, the topic of Nick Saban receiving the 2016 Maxwell Coach of the Year award came up. Here’s what Spurrier said.
Steve Spurrier on Nick Saban winning Coach of the Year from Maxwell Football Club:
"Obviously they must have voted before the final game."

As you undoubtedly know, Alabama lost to Clemson in the national title game. And we’re pretty confident in saying that if the voting would have happened after the game Clemson coach Dabo Swinney would have won the award.
Comments like these are why Spurrier should have a job on ESPN’s College GameDay or any other studio show if and whenever he wants it. College football is definitely more entertaining with Spurrier around, and if television would fit into his heavy golf schedule, we’re all better off if he decides to do it.
