Sources: Wayne Ellington agrees to Heat deal
Free-agent guard Wayne Ellington has agreed to a two-year, $12 million-plus deal with the Miami Heat, league sources told The Vertical.
Ellington, 28, gives the Heat a veteran guard and perimeter threat to start reshaping the backcourt with the loss of 12-time All-Star Dwyane Wade to Chicago.
Ellington could be impacted by the franchise’s decision to match restricted free agent Tyler Johnson’s $50 million offer sheet with the Brookly Nets.
Ellington completed his seventh NBA season, averaging 7.7 points in 76 games – 41 starts –with the Nets. Ellington has had stops in Minnesota, Memphis, Cleveland, Dallas, the Lakers and Nets.
