Sources: Ben Simmons close to deal with Nike
LSU freshman Ben Simmons – the possible top pick in the 2016 NBA draft – is nearing an agreement on a multiyear deal with Nike, sources told The Vertical.
Simmons is choosing Nike’s offer over one from adidas, sources said, after Nike increased its proposal for Simmons.
Simmons’ deal is believed to be one of the largest rookie deals for Nike, but not close to the deals signed by LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and two steals per game in his one season at LSU. The Philadelphia 76ers own the No. 1 pick in the June 23 NBA draft and are reportedly leaning toward selecting Simmons.
