Report: Rutgers WR Janarion Grant out for season
Rutgers will reportedly be playing the rest of the 2016 season without its best offensive player.
According to NJ.com, wide receiver Janarion Grant is out for the remainder of the season after he injured his right ankle when tackled by Iowa’s Desmond King.
Wearing the pain on his face, Grant was helped off the field late in the first half without putting any pressure on the ankle and carted back to the locker room. He was seen on the sideline in the second half out of uniform, wearing a cast and using crutches for support when not on the trainer’s table.
Grant is the only Rutgers’ player who has more than eight receptions. He has 20 catches for 210 yards and is also the team’s second-leading rusher with 16 carries for 147 yards and three scores.

He’s returned all but one punt for the Scarlet Knights this season (seven for 112 yards and a score) and has six kickoff returns for 195 yards and a touchdown. We don’t need to emphasize just how much production that is. The Scarlet Knights will undoubtedly rely on multiple players to fill the hole left behind by Grant.
The site also reported defensive lineman Quanzell Lambert is out for the season. Lambert has 15 tackles and has started each of the team’s first four games.
