Cole Miller Confirms Broken Hand in UFC Fight Night 35 Bout, Unsure of Surgery
UFC featherweight Cole Miller, successful in his victory over Sam Sicilia at UFC Fight Night 35 on Wednesday night, was unsuccessful in staving off injury.
Although he scored a first-round rear naked choke stoppage for the Submission of the Night bonus, Miller also scored a broken hand.
He wasn’t sure when he conducted his post-fight interview in the Octagon, but by the time he made his way to the post-fight press conference, Miller had confirmed the injury.
“Yeah, it's broken,” he said in regards to his left hand. Miller had broken his right hand a couple years ago in a victory over T.J. O’Brien.
He’s unsure how extensive the break is, and will have to wait until Thursday to get a doctor’s opinion on whether or not he’ll need to have an operation as part of the recovery process.
“I'm gonna go and get it checked out tomorrow and find out if I need to get surgery.”
The injury could put a dent in his hopes to draw rival Donald Cerrone into a fight. Cerrone already has a lightweight bout scheduled for UFC on Fox 10 later this month, but Miller had hoped to talk him into meeting in the Octagon at featherweight for his next bout.
Another broke hand. On the left this time. At least I got sub of the night. Thanks for a great night @ufc! pic.twitter.com/m3BnsQ4Ji4
