Each Monday, we’ll gather the best catches from the weekend (or the midweek games) and bring them here for you to vote on in a poll. There could be only a few nominees, or there could be five or six. It all depends on the weekend. If you have a catch you’d like to nominate, don’t hesitate to hit us up on Twitter (@YahooDrSaturday).

The voting remains open until Friday and the winner advances to another round of voting that will help crown the best catch of the regular season.

Northern Illinois’ Kenny Golladay is one of the best receivers in the country you may not have heard of, and he proved it with an awesome touchdown grab in Week 8. His one-handed diving touchdown catch from last week’s win over Buffalo garnered 63 percent of the vote in last week’s poll, edging BYU’s Mitchell Juergens, West Virginia’s Jovon Durante, Miami Ohio’s James Gardner and Syracuse’s Amba Etta-Tawo.

Here are the Week 9 nominees:

Amara Darboh – Michigan

Michigan senior Amara Darboh has evolved into one of the most reliable targets in the Big Ten over the past few years. He has been a great weapon for first-year starter Wilton Speight all year, both as a possession receiver and a deep threat. He showed his big play capabilities with this diving grab against rival Michigan State.

Darboh fended off very tight coverage (pass interference, perhaps) and brought in Speight’s pass with just his left arm for a 39-yard gain. Darboh finished the day with eight catches for a career-high 165 yards in the 32-23 win.

Isaiah Ford – Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech’s Isaiah Ford made two highlight reel catches in Thursday night’s win over Pitt. One involved snatching the ball out of a defender’s hands while lying flat on his back, but we’re going to focus on a record-setting touchdown that sealed the Hokies’ victory.

This one came on a back-shoulder throw from Jerod Evans. Ford was able to adjust on the fly and reach for the ball with full extension. Ford basically tipped the ball to himself with his left hand and somehow established possession as he went to the ground.

The touchdown, which gave the Hokies a 39-29 lead, was the 23rd of Ford’s career — a new Virginia Tech record. It also proved to be the game-sealing score as the Hokies held on to a 39-36 win.

Kelvin Harmon – NC State

This touchdown grab by NC State’s Kelvin Harmon was initially ruled incomplete upon first glance, and it’s easy to understand why. At first, it didn’t seem like Harmon really had a chance to get a foot down with the close coverage from a Boston College defender. However, a replay showed what happened: Harmon somehow reached his right arm around the defender and pinned the ball to his side as he tapped his left foot on the ground.

Harmon’s clutch catch gave the Wolfpack a 14-13 lead, but Boston College ended up coming back and winning 21-14, snapping a 12-game conference losing streak. Harmon had five catches for 80 yards in the loss.

Shaedon Meadors – Appalachian State

App State won its fifth straight game last week in a dominant 34-10 effort at Georgia Southern and junior Shaedon Meadors led the way for the Mountaineers’ receiving corps with six catches for 126 yards. He had a 30-yard catch in the second quarter you have to see to believe.

Quarterback Taylor Lamb rolled left and lobbed one up to the 6-foot-2 Meadors, who somehow corralled the pass along the sideline in tight coverage. The defender had a hand on the ball, but Meadors was strong enough to snatch it away and maintain possession as he fell out of bounds.

Here’s another look at the great play:

D.J. Moore – Maryland

D.J. Moore’s touchdown grab against Indiana was more about his foot placement than anything. Sure, he fought through a closing IU defensive back to make a leaping catch. But more impressively, he was able to get his left toe inbounds as the defender shoved him out of bounds. All the while, he maintained possession for a score that put the Terps ahead going into halftime.

Great play.
