Updated: Bucs' Austin Seferian-Jenkins jailed after early-morning DUI arrest, cut by team

Third-year Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has already been on thin ice with his team, and he made things much worse on Friday morning after being arrested for driving under the influence.

Via the Tampa Bay Times, the 2014 second-round pick was stopped by Florida Highway Patrol at 3:42 a.m. after he was observed driving 75-80 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, made an improper lane change (cutting off the highway trooper in the process), and “weaving back and forth.”

The arrest report says Seferian-Jenkins had glassy eyes and his breath smelled of alcohol. He was also “agitated,” slurred his speech, and had trouble with his balance, leaning on things to help himself. He refused to provide a breath sample to measure his blood-alcohol level and “performed poorly” on the administered field-sobriety tests.

Seferian-Jenkins was booked at 6 a.m. and charged with DUI, and also faces a misdemeanor charge of violating a court-ordered ignition interlock device restriction which was put in place after a 2013 arrest for DUI in Washington state.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that Seferian-Jenkins was still jailed as of 9:30 a.m. Friday.

It wouldn’t be surprising if this spells the end for Seferian-Jenkins with Tampa Bay. During June OTAs, head coach Dirk Koetter kicked him off the field for not being prepared for practice, a situation the player made worse by getting into it with fans on Twitter who were critical of him.

Add in the fact that Seferian-Jenkins still hasn’t won the starting job, has been targeted just three times in the first two games of this season, and can’t stay healthy (he played just 16 of 32 games his first two seasons), though it would cost the Buccaneers $1.1 million in dead money against the salary cap if he was released.

Update (2:02 p.m. EST): Looks like Seferian-Jenkins has been released; he posted this short message to his Twitter account:
