NCAA bracket betting: Undefeated South Carolina is a huge women's tournament favorite

The Gamecocks are 32-0 and have incredibly short odds to win the title.

Betting South Carolina to win the women’s NCAA tournament isn’t going to net you much of a return.

The Gamecocks have been the most dominant team in college basketball this season and enter the NCAA tournament at 32-0. The No. 1 overall seed is a staggering -145 to win the national title. That means if you bet $10 on the Gamecocks to win the title you’ll only net $6.90 if they cut down the nets.

Those odds aren’t persuading bettors to back other teams, either. South Carolina is the second-most bet team at BetMGM and has attracted the most money by far. Nearly 60% of money bet on the women’s national title winner is on the Gamecocks.

The most-bet team is the Iowa Hawkeyes. Caitlin Clark and her teammates are +1000 to win the national title and are getting 22% of bets. South Carolina is second with 20% of the bets. Iowa was left off the No. 1 line on Selection Sunday and is the No. 2 seed behind Stanford in one of the Seattle regions.

Stanford and UConn are currently the No. 2 favorites behind South Carolina to win the national title. Both the Cardinal and Huskies are at +700 to win the national title and are getting fewer than 10% of bets. UConn was also put on the No. 2 line on Sunday much to the consternation of coach Geno Auriemma. If you’re betting UConn, it’s worth remembering that Paige Bueckers is sidelined because of a torn ACL she suffered playing pickup basketball before the season.

Indiana is at +1000 along with Iowa and is getting 14% of bets to win the national title. The Hoosiers scored the first No. 1 seed in school history and are atop a region that includes Utah and LSU. The Tigers went 28-2 and only lost to South Carolina and Tennessee this season. But that Tennessee loss came in the SEC tournament as the Vols stormed back from a 17-point deficit to nab a 69-67 win.
