NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors dropping rough loss to short-handed Grizzlies
While the Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green made his highly anticipated return to the court on Monday night, the Memphis Grizzlies were without five key players: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke.
Despite facing a short-handed squad, the Warriors couldn’t put the Grizzlies away. After trading buckets throughout the game, the Warriors went into the fourth quarter with a one point lead over the Grizzlies.
In the final frame, the Warriors had no answers for the Grizzlies. Rookies GG Jackson and Jacob Gilyard took over, combining for 13 of the Grizzlies’ 31 fourth-quarter points. While the Grizzlies surged to a late lead, the Warriors went ice cold, scoring only 21 points in the fourth quarter on the way to a rough loss in Memphis.
Behind Jackson’s 23 points off the bench, the Grizzlies notched an upset victory over the Warriors for their fourth win at home of the season.
In his return to the court, Green tallied seven points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field with seven rebounds and four assists in 23 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Grizzlies.
Following another loss for the Warriors, the NBA community on X, formerly known as Twitter, chimed in with reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on social media on Monday night.

Warriors fall 116-107 to a Grizzlies team without five of their top six players. They're 18-22, 12th in the West.
Golden State committed 18 turnovers for 30 points, allowed 20 3-pointers and had their largest free-throw discrepancy of the season (9-of-10 to Memphis' 28-of-36)

Offensive meltdown in the fourth quarter. Terrible defensive awareness. Loss of composure.

Bad road loss for the Warriors to a Memphis team without Morant, Bane, Smart, Adams. The Grizzlies backups hit 20 3s. Warriors turned it over 18 times, a bunch of silly ones. Draymond Green looked pretty good in his return, but season continues to spiral. Record: 18-22.

On Jan 10 when the Warriors lost to the Pelicans by 36 points, we were asking, is this the worst loss of the season? Five days later the same question comes up against the deeply shorthanded Grizzlies who shot the dang lights out.

One of the scariest boxscores I’ve seen in long time for Warriors — tonight’s loss at Memphis. Warriors now 18-22, closer to 13th in Western Conference than No. 8. What are we doing?

GG Jackson before playing the Warriors today had played in 7 games
He had scored 20 points once
He had gone scoreless four times
He had made four career 3-pointers
He had grabbed 6 rebounds one other time
He had four games without a rebound
He had three career blocks https://t.co/VuAtoFOTgb— Dalton Johnson (@DaltonJ_Johnson) January 16, 2024

Kennard getting his own rebound was the metaphor of the year. No one boxed out no one moved Wiggs just watched Luke grab it. Wow
