MIAMI – Painful.

That was how it felt for coach Erik Spoelstra to watch film of the NBA Finals opener with LeBron James and the rest of the Miami Heat players.

"We already had a long film session. Whether they watch more, I don't know," Spoelstra said before practice Friday, less than 24 hours after Miami lost 92-88 to San Antonio. "That was probably enough. That was painful enough to go back and see all the opportunities when we're up to be able to finish possessions, close it out and close out the game both ends of the court in the last six minutes. "You have to give [the Spurs] credit, and we scored 16 points in the fourth quarter."

The media session, let alone the film study, had to be painful for Heat forward Chris Bosh as he was questioned for taking and missing three 3-pointers late in Game 1 rather than spending more time in the paint scoring and getting rebounds. Bosh had 13 points on 6-of-16 shooting and only five rebounds in 35 minutes. He also missed all four of his 3-pointers. The biggest miss came with about 1:02 remaining with the Spurs ahead, 90-86 as Bosh was wide open. Afterward, Spoelstra said that the Heat had an opportunity to score in the paint and Bosh was unguarded for a reason.

If given the opportunity again, Bosh would not be scared to shoot from deep.

"They can give it to me, I'll take it," Bosh said. "I'll take any open shot. I just missed a couple – I think one was a bad shot. I probably could have had a better option. If they want to leave me open, then that's cool with. me."

The biggest concern for Miami defensively is slowing down Spurs point guard Tony Parker.

Parker had a team-high 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field and three free throws, a team-high six assists and no turnovers. The All-Star also knocked down the game-sealing shot in acrobatic fashion with James hovering over him. James will likely be on Parker more defensively, but don't expect it from start to finish like against like against the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose in the 2011 Eastern Conference finals.

"The game will present whatever the game presents itself, opportunities for me to guard Tony," James said. "If it's early in the game, late in the game, it won't be the full game. I think we have confidence in our two point guards [Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole]. … There will be times where I match up against him.

"So defensively he does a lot of running, comes off a lot of pick and rolls. So I have to be ready for that. Offensively it presents a little challenge for me once I get back on the other end, chasing after Tony and going through all the screens that he goes through. But I'm ready for it. I'm ready for the challenge. It's something I live for."

Miami has not lost two straight since early January (vs. the Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers). But they've split their last eight games. A loss in Game 2 on Sunday would force the Heat to win at least two of three in San Antonio.
