Nate Diaz tweets at Dana White, wants release from UFC: 'I've got s*** to do'

Nate Diaz wants out of the UFC.

The longtime MMA star publicly asked the UFC and president Dana White to release him from his contract on Twitter on Saturday.

“I would like to request to be released from the UFC,” he wrote. “I apologize for asking online but you don’t give me a fight ASAP I got s**t to do.”

Diaz has one last fight left on his current contract with the UFC. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Diaz and the UFC have been trying to extend his deal, but they have failed to reach an agreement.

Diaz hasn’t fought since he fell to Leon Edwards in June. He was reportedly offered a bout with Khamzat Chimaev, but he declined. He has offered to fight several people publicly, including fellow star Dustin Poirier, but nothing has come to fruition. He has also reportedly been working on a third fight against Conor McGregor, but McGregor is still recovering from a leg injury.

Diaz tweeted earlier this week that he’s been “trying to fight for seven months.”

Diaz, 36, holds a 21-13 MMA record. He’s lost his last two bouts, with his last win coming against Anthony Pettis in 2019.

Though it’s unclear whether the UFC will release Diaz early or not, he does apparently have one fighter ready to go.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul appeared to offer Diaz a fight on Twitter on Saturday.
