Nashville Predators' Yakov Trenin ejected for hit on Philadelphia Flyers' Morgan Frost

First, it was a two-minute penalty for a check to the head.

Then it was a lot more for Nashville Predators forward Yakov Trenin during Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

After checking and rechecking and rechecking video of the hit Trenin put on the Philadelphia Flyers' Morgan Frost during the second period, officials changed the call to a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

The hit occurred 12 minutes, 31 seconds into the second period. Trenin appeared to strike Frost in the shoulder, which sent him headfirst into the boards and left him in a heap on the ice for a few moments before he retreated to the locker room.

He returned soon after.

Trenin's ejection left the Predators with 10 forwards after coach Andrew Brunette elected to start the game with 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

It was the second game in a row a Predators player was assessed a game misconduct. Michael McCarron was thrown out of the team's 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.
