Ryan McDonagh's OT goal caps Nashville Predators' comeback in 5-4 win over Arizona
The Nashville Predators returned to the ice after a lengthy All-Star break with a dramatic comeback and an overtime victory.
Ryan McDonagh scored in overtime to give the Preds a 5-4 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday at Bridgestone Arena.
Nashville, who hadn't played since Jan. 31, fought back from a 4-2 deficit in the third period to force overtime and earn the second point in the extra period.

Nashville got on the board first in the first period with a Ryan O'Reilly goal where he fought off the puck with a shot in front of net on a scramble. Arizona's Travis Dermott matched the goal seconds later on a high-slot shot.
The two teams combined for seven penalties in a sloppy second period, with each team scoring a power play goal.
Arizona scored back-to-back goals early in the third period to create a 4-2 lead, but the Predators clawed back with goals by Tommy Novak and Filip Forsberg. Despite a late Preds surge, the game went to overtime.
Nashville returns to the ice on Feb. 13 at home against the New Jersey Devils.

Overtime in Nashville
Predators fight back from 4-2 down early in the third period and had a surge in the final five minutes to get the game-winner, but couldn't. OT it is with the score at 4-4. The final 8:10 of regulation occurred without a whistle.
Coyotes 4, Predators 4 at 9:59 of the third period: Filip Forsberg ties it up
Resident All-Star Filip Forsberg buries a tasty rebound after a Ryan O'Reilly shot to tie the game. The first line for the Predators is everything for this team right now.
Tie game with a half-period to play in regulation. That was Forsberg's 25th goal of the season. O'Reilly and Roman Josi get the assists.

Coyotes 4, Predators 3 at 6:00 of the third period: Tommy Novak cuts into Arizona's lead
Nashville gets back on the power play and cash in. Tommy Novak gets his ninth goal of the season on a simple play after the puck is retrieved from the boards. Novak had all day alone in the left slot for the goal.
Nashville now trails 4-3.

Coyotes 4, Predators 2 at 4:07 of the third period: Arizona adds on via power play
The Predators are on the penalty kill again, and Arizona takes advantage. The Coyotes use seven seconds of the power play, and some nifty stick work by Jason Zucker allows him to find Nick Schmaltz for the goal.
Schmaltz gets his 14th goal of the season. Jason Zucker and Clayton Keller pick up their second assists of the night, both coming on power play goals. Arizona leads 4-2.
Coyotes 3, Predators 2 at 1:45 of the third period: Coyotes in front for the first time tonight
Arizona takes the lead early in the third on a Juuso Valimaki goal that deflected off of at least two Predators skaters before flying into the net.
Valimaki has his second goal of the year. Not much Juuse Saros could have done about it.
Predators 2, Coyotes 2 at 18:31 of the second period: Arizona ties it up again
Arizona evens the score at 2 on a power-play goal by Dylan Guenther, his fourth goal of the season. Clayton Keller and Jason Zucker get the assists. Guenther drew the interference penalty by Jeremy Lauzon about a minute beforehand.
This is setting up for a testy third period between the Predators and Coyotes.
Predators 2, Coyotes 1 at 11:39 of the second period: Roman Josi gives Preds the lead
Nashville is on the power play, and possesses the puck long enough to create an opening for Roman Josi on the right faceoff dot. Josi beats Ingram clean for his 11th goal of the season.
Ryan O'Reilly has his second point of the day with an assist, with Tyson Barrie also getting an assist. Preds lead 2-1.
Six total penalties were dolled out by the referee crew in a 5-minute stretch midway through the second period.

Predators 1, Coyotes 1 at 13:10 of the first period: Arizona answers quickly
The Coyotes get the puck going the other way, and Travis Dermott beats Juuse Saros from the high slot to even the score at 1-1.
It is Dermott's second goal of the season. Tough shot for Saros to stop.
