Nashville Predators: When Does the Losing Stop?

The Nashville Predators have had a very tough start to the 2024-25 season after a ton of hype and high expectations. Major moves were made and it hasn't done a whole lot because the team hasn't been able to click and put everything together.

Nashville is 4-8-1, but were actually in a worse place to begin last season after starting 5-10-0 and still ended up making the playoffs. You can't expect that to happen every season though, despite the talented roster the Predators have this time around.

The Predators began the season on a five-game losing streak in regulation. The team followed that up with three wins and the thought was that they had turned it around, only to lose the next four of five games that lead up to where we are now.

Regardless of who the Predators face, they have to find ways to win, not ways to lose. Three of Nashville's nine losses have been by one goal and two other games would've ended in a one goal defeat had it not been for empty net goals piled on.

The Predators are coming into the second game of a back-to-back against the Florida Panthers, one of the powerhouses of the league. They are on a five-game win streak and don't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

After two regulation losses in a row for the Predators, it could very easily ramp up to three just like that. Nashville may really be in trouble by the mid-way point of November if the majority of their games following the game against the Panthers don't go so well either.

Nashville faces the Utah Hockey Club, Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames. All of these teams are struggling and the Predators have to jump them all to get back in the playoff race. If Nashville can't take more points than they lose out on by Nov. 16, then it's not going to get any easier and there may actually have to be moves.

Barry Trotz already addressed the possibility of a rebuild plan if Nashville can't turn things around. This next stretch may signal the start of that rebuild plan astonishingly fast.
