NASCAR QNA: Kyle Busch takes a punch and delivers a message; "I suck just as bad as you"

Kyle Busch gives us an “I suck, too.” Will that help team morale?

When it was all over, as Kyle and Ricky Stenhouse were being led to their neutral corners at North Wilkesboro, Kyle hollered, “I don’t give a (bleep), I suck just as bad as you.”

That gem comes a week after Chris Buescher’s lecture about needing a sticker, and no, the team isn’t likely to print T-shirts with that new team motto.

For the anti-Kyle crowd, Ricky Stenhouse just became a folk hero.

FIGHT POLL Watch as Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kyle Busch scrap; Who's at fault? Vote!

Two takeaways after the dust cleared: 1. We’ve long known Ricky is a physically fit and strong dude, but now we know he’ll use it, and is so casual about it, won’t even remove his watch or change out of his loungewear.

And 2. Replay the incident from various angles, and you’ll get a look at Ricky Senior, whose low profile finally disappeared when he locked up with Kyle.

Surprised by Kyle Larson’s speed at Indianapolis?

No because he’s saddling up with the fastest Non-Penske team at the Brickyard this month.

But I’m always awed by a guy’s willingness to go 240 mph into a hard-left turn when his usual race mode is, comparably, school-zone speed. The big task is learning how to handle race-day traffic and use all of IndyCar’s high-tech gadgets in a way that facilitates passing and maintaining position.

He’s giving up years of experience there, but if he finishes near where he’ll start (fifth) that’d be amazing.
