Who’s moving up to take Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL draft?

There’s a few things we know ahead of next month’s NFL Draft: Caleb Williams will be the first overall pick, while the market for quarterbacks will be crazy.

Teams like the New York Giants, Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are in search of their franchise quarterbacks. Daniel Jones is clearly not working in the Big Apple, the Bears dealt Justin Fields to Pittsburgh, while Kirk Cousins singed with the Atlanta Falcons.

With Cousins gone in Minnesota, which direction could the Vikings be looking in the NFL Draft?

How about former UNC quarterback Drake Maye?

According to ESPN Draft Analyst Matt Miller, the Vikings will trade up with the New England Patriots and select Maye third overall. New England is another team in dire need of a quarterback – and one that has been linked to Maye in the past.

“Maye is a big-armed and mobile, with the tools to thrive under coach Kevin O’Connell,” Miller said. “With a star left tackle in Christian Darrisaw, arguably the league’s best receiver in Justin Jefferson and a very good WR2 in second-year player Jordan Addison, the Vikings’ offensive supporting cast is perfect for a rookie quarterback. Maye is raw and in many situations, it would be best for him to sit and learn for a year, but the Minnesota structure could get him on the field early. He has thrown for 7,929 yards and 62 TD passes over the past two seasons.”

Maye is going to be a star wherever he goes. With how many injuries there seem to be in the NFL these days, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Maye start in his Rookie season.

The Patriots need a quarterback the worst, but if I’m Maye, I’m hoping Minnesota trades up to take me. How many good situations has a rookie quarterback ever gone into?
