Move over Red Sox: Astros the best team in baseball in 2019, according to one oddsmaker
The Boston Red Sox may have won the World Series in 2018, but the Houston Astros will be better in 2019. If you have a problem with that statement, take it up with the oddsmakers.
Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas believes the Astros will win the most games during the 2019 Major League Baseball regular season. Yes, that’s right, it’s barely January and MLB win totals have already been released.

Before we move forward, let’s acknowledge it’s way too early for win totals to be out. A number of premiere free agents haven’t signed yet. Bryce Harper and Manny Machado are the two biggest names available, but guys like A.J. Pollock, Yasmani Grandal and Craig Kimbrel are still out there. These win totals can change drastically as those players start signing with teams.
For now, Caesar’s Palace believes five teams can win more than 90 games in 2019: The Astros, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Red Sox make up that group. Behind them, the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals and Tampa Bay Rays are projected to have more than 85 wins, but fewer than 90.
As for disappointments, Caesar’s Palace sees the Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics and Atlanta Braves falling back to earth.
While fans of those teams will not be happy about those predictions, they can take joy in not rooting for the Baltimore Orioles. On the one hand, the Orioles are projected to win just 59 game in 2019. On the other hand, that’s actually a 12-game improvement compared to last season.
