Reds' Nick Castellanos lets fan explain post-home run fist bump and it involves Rob Manfred
In the scorebook it's a simple case of game-tying home run. Yet Nick Castellanos' 405-foot blast in the Cincinnati Reds' 6-5 win against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday was more than that.
There's a bit of a backstory to this one. Back in April, you may recall, Castellanos was suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his "aggressive actions" in "instigating a benches-clearing incident." The right fielder appealed the decision, which stemmed from scoring a run on a passed ball, standing over St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jake Woodford at home plate and flexing.
The suspension was upheld by MLB.
Castellanos is still apparently salty about it all. After his home run, he fist-pumped a fan and shared a few words with him. When asked about it after the game, Castellanos let the fan tell the broadcasters why that occurred.
You might see where this is going.

Castellanos staring into the camera as the fan tells the kicker is pure perfection. MLB and its commissioner Rob Manfred can't possibly fine him for that ... we think?
The Reds won, 6-5, in the 12th inning. Castellanos was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, three RBI and the home run shot. His 10 homers on the year are currently tied for third and his camera stares are approaching Jim Halpert accolades.
