Lauren Park-Lane's historic performance leads Mississippi State women's basketball vs Colorado State

Colorado State elected not to worry about Mississippi State women’s basketball guard Lauren Park-Lane from 3-point range on Wednesday, despite her shooting nearly 35% from beyond the arc this season.

Park-Lane decided to have a record breaking night as a result. Behind her 33 points and an MSU single-game record 10 made 3-pointers, the Bulldogs (12-2) picked up an 82-75 win.

The previous record for Mississippi State was eight made 3-pointers, which happened twice. The latest such outing came in 2019 when Andra Espinoza-Hunter did it against Arkansas.

Park-Lane, who transferred from Seton Hall in the offseason, came to MSU as a potent scorer. She averaged 20.8 points per game with the Pirates last season, but her role has varied with the Bulldogs. Entering Wednesday, she surpassed 20 points just once this season but averaged 6.3 assists per game.

Coach Sam Purcell has stressed that she can be the high-scoring version of herself when needed, and he proved to be right against the Rams.

Jessika Carter (14 points, eight rebounds) was the lone other Bulldog in double figures, though her streak of three straight double-doubles came to an end. The trip to Colorado State (9-2) concludes a home-and-home with MSU winning both contests.
