Mississippi State women's basketball adds transfer forward Nyayongah Gony

Mississippi State ended last season with Charlotte Kohl as the only active player taller than 6 feet. Sam Purcell has ensured that won't be the case in his first season.

The Bulldogs announced the addition of transfer forward Nyayongah Gony on Monday. She spent her freshman season (2020-21) at Miami before stepping away to focus on her game and mental health before entering the transfer portal in March.

Gony was a four-star recruit, according to espnW HoopGurlz, out of Lincoln High School in Nebraska. She received an offer from Louisville while Purcell was an assistant.

Purcell has one scholarship left to award with eight players returning, two incoming freshmen and Gony becoming the fourth transfer portal addition.
