Mississippi State live score updates vs Ole Miss baseball: Bulldogs face Rebels in SEC
OXFORD — Swayze Field is the site of a renewed rivalry, with Ole Miss baseball playing host to Mississippi State for a three-game series that opens Friday.
The Rebels (18-16, 3-10 SEC) are looking to put an end to a seven-game losing streak and a skid against their rival. Ole Miss hasn't won the regular-season series against Mississippi State since 2015.
Coach Mike Bianco's team had a promising start to SEC play, taking two of three against South Carolina at home. However, that was followed by a series loss at Tennessee before the Rebels were swept by Kentucky and Arkansas.

Mississippi State (22-12, 7-6) enters the series after an emotional weekend at home against Georgia. MSU won the opener and the rubber match. However, in the second game, an altercation at the end of the eighth inning resulted in more than 10 players getting ejected.
The three games in Oxford this weekend will be the only ones between the rivals that count toward the SEC standings. However, they will face each other in a fourth game in Pearl on May 1 for the Governor's Cup.
Game 1: Mississippi State 8, Ole Miss 0
The series opener started as a duel between the starters, with MSU's Khal Stephen and Ole Miss' Riley Maddox taking a scoreless game into the fifth. However, Mississippi State's offense came to life with a run-scoring groundout from Logan Kohler in the fifth. In the sixth, the Bulldogs piled on seven runs to pull away. Dakota Jordan hit his 15th home run of the season in the frame. Stephen threw eight scoreless innings before Tyson Hardin completed the shutout in the ninth.
Game 2: Ole Miss 10, Mississippi State 9
The Rebels evened the series in a 12-inning battle Saturday. The Bulldogs, who trailed by three early in the contest, led by four in the eighth inning. They also led in the 11th and in the 12th. However, Ole Miss repeatedly fought back and eventually won a on walk-off two-run single from Jackson Ross. MSU starting pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje lasted only three innings before he was removed due to back tightness.
Game 3: Ole Miss 14, Mississippi State 2
Ole Miss won the series against its rival for the first time since 2015 in resounding fashion. In the seven-inning affair, the Rebels scored a run in all but one frame. Six Ole Miss players had multiple hits, including Ethan Lege who had two home runs. Mason Nichols dominated for Ole Miss on the mound, allowing only one earned run in 6⅓ innings pitched.
